The First Annual Beach Music Memorial Tribute
"Dedicated to the memory of Joe & Otis Pope of the Tams, Ronnie Giddings of the Catalinas, Marcel Evans of The Zodiacs and The Drifters and In Memory of Maurice & Emily's son James L. B. Williams.
On the evening of December 18, 2005 - The Lounge at the Ramada Inn on Woodlawn was packed with Beach Music enthusiast from around the Carolinas.
The Beach Music Celebrity line up was most impressive. They had flown in from all parts of the Carolinas and Tennessee to participate and show their support. Each Celebrity was truly dedicated to the Beach Music Memorial Tribute Benefit and were the voices for a most worthy cause. Maurice Williams had called upon them for a show of support and they were eager to be of help.
Unfortunately there wasn't enough time for every Act to participate as planned, but we will make sure these wonderful people do not go un-noticed, for their gallant efforts of support to such a worthy cause. Thanks to each person that contributed to this prestigious affair and special thanks to Jerry Goodman & GAD Music Company. The event was taped and will be televised on Cable Channel 21 "Eve's Orbit" which airs the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at 7:00 pm (see site for air dates and what's
coming up). We shall be seeing excerpts from this benefit in the near future."
